Yogyakarta – STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta once again held an Expert Lecture as part of its commitment to improving the quality of student learning in the health sector. On this occasion, the theme raised was “Hemodialysis (HD) Action Procedure”, by presenting Mrs. Dhiyan Kusumawati, S.Kep., Ners., M.N.Sc. He is an academic as well as a practitioner who is experienced in treating patients with hemodialysis therapy.
In this session, the students received a comprehensive explanation of the stages of patient preparation before undergoing hemodialysis. The material includes an examination of the patient’s general condition, assessment of clinical status, and psychological aspects, which are often challenging in themselves. Ms. Dhiyan emphasized that the success of HD actions does not only depend on the technical skills of health workers, but also on the mental readiness of patients. Therefore, therapeutic communication and patient education are important pillars in the entire procedure.
Students are invited to understand that hemodialysis is not just a medical procedure, but a series of actions that require precision, empathy, and professionalism. The material presented is expected to be a valuable provision when they go directly into the field, both in hospitals and HD service clinics.
This activity was enthusiastically welcomed by STIKES Notokusumo students. They actively ask questions and discuss, especially about real cases that are often encountered in clinical practice. This spirit of learning reflects the readiness of students to absorb knowledge and apply it in future health services.
Through this Expert Lecture, STIKES Notokusumo is committed to presenting learning that is relevant to the needs of the world of work. The material on hemodialysis is one of the important focuses, considering the increasing prevalence of chronic kidney disease in Indonesia. With the knowledge of experts, STIKES Notokusumo graduates are expected to be able to provide quality, professional, and humane health services.
