Notokusumo Yogyakarta College of Health Sciences is an educational institution under the auspices of the Notokusumo Foundation. The Notokusumo Foundation was founded on June 6 1979 by Pakualaman relatives together with the community. The name Notokusumo Foundation was given by Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Ario (KGPAA) Sri Paduka Paku Alam VIII. The name “Notokusumo” was taken from the name of a Prince named Pangeran Notokusumo, he was the son of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I, and the founder of the Pakualaman dynasty who later had the title Paku Alam I.
The word Notokusumo consists of two syllables: “Noto” which means to organize and “Kusumo” which means the nation’s leader, or in other words Notokusumo means to organize/educate the nation’s children so that they become pandega/leaders of the nation.
In accordance with the Articles of Association, the Notokusumo Foundation has aims and objectives in the social sector which operates in the fields of education and culture in order to educate the nation’s children with noble character.
To date, the Notokusumo Foundation has established 2 (two) higher education institutions, namely:
The Academy of State Administration (AAN), which was founded in 1979, which in its development has changed its form to the “AAN” College of Administrative Sciences (STIA) on May 13 2002. STIA “AAN” has two study programs, namely the Bachelor of Science Study Program State/Public Administration and D3 State/Public Administration Study Program.
Notokusumo Academy of Nursing (Akper), which was founded in 1990, which in its development has changed its form to the Notokusumo Yogyakarta College of Health Sciences on August 20 2019. STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta has two study programs, namely the DIII Nursing Study Program and the Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program .
Notokusumo Yogyakarta College of Health Sciences is a changing form of the Notokusumo Yogyakarta Nursing Academy. Akper Notokusumo Yogyakarta is the first private nursing education institution in Yogyakarta for the Diploma III Nursing education program.
At the beginning of its establishment Notokusumo Academy occupied the old campus, on Jl. Pakualaman Mosque No. 5 Yogyakarta. After approximately 19 years, in line with the demands of development, the Notokusumo Foundation built a new campus for the Notokusumo Academy on Jalan Bener No. 26 Tegalrejo Yogyakarta.
The Notokusumo Yogyakarta Nursing Academy officially changed its form to the Notokusumo Yogyakarta College of Health Sciences with the addition of a new S1-Pharmacy study program based on Decree of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 739/KPT/I/2019 Dated 20 August 2019 concerning Permits to Change the Form of the Notokusumo Yogyakarta Nursing Academy in Yogyakarta to become the Notokusumo Yogyakarta College of Health Sciences in Yogyakarta. The decree was submitted by the Head of LLDIKTI Region V Yogyakarta on 16 September 2019.
