First Step of Service: STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta Holds a Ceremony to Say the Promise of Nurse Professional Education Students Batch I

YOGYAKARTA – As a new milestone in institutional development, STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta held a Promise and Installation of Pre-Nurse Hood (Capping Day) ceremony for students of the Nurse Professional Education Study Program Batch I in 2026. With the theme “Janji as the First Step to Forming Professional and Ethical Nurses in Community Service”. This event took place solemnly at the Auditorium of the 4th Floor Integrated Building on Friday, April 17, 2026, which was attended by 36 Nurse Professional Education students. An emotional and proud atmosphere enveloped the room when the participants entered the ceremony area, followed by singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya as a form of nationalism in health service.

Symbolism of Dedication and Professional Ethics

In his remarks, the Head of the Nurse Professional Education Study Program, Ni Ketut Kardiyudiani, M.Kep., Sp., K.M.B., PhD.Ns, said that this moment was not just ceremonial, but a moral promise of students before facing patients directly. The highlight of the event was marked by the installation of a hood by senior nurses who are lecturers of STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta, accompanied by the lighting of candles as a symbol of lighting in service.

The main procession was continued with a Speech led by a student representative, Didik Kurniawan, and was steadily followed by all students. The promise was then confirmed through the signing of the promise script by student representatives with the Chairman of STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta.

Message for the Pioneer Generation of the Nurse Profession

The Chairman of STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta, Mr. Taukhit, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep, in his speech gave high appreciation to the Nurse Professional Education Batch I. He advised students to always maintain the good name of their alma mater and prioritize human values, professionalism in every medical procedure and integrate clinical competence with noble ethics in accordance with the theme carried.

This event was also attended by  the Chairman of DPD PPNI Yogyakarta City, Mr. Subworo Hadi, S.Kep., Ns, who provided an introduction and briefing on the strategic role of PPNI professional organizations. Her presence provides a real picture of the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities that will be carried out by prospective nurses in the community.

The ceremony was closed at 11.00 WIB with a group photo session between the leadership, invited guests, and all students. With the implementation of this ceremony, the 36 students of Nurse Professional Education Batch I of STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta, are ready to step up to give their best dedication to health services in Indonesia. As the first batch, these 36 students are expected to be pioneers and role models for their younger siblings in carrying out professional practices at various STIKES Notokusumo Yogyakarta partner hospitals.
